What is AlignmentHorse?

What differentiates AlignmentHorse from the traditional means of equine development, is that it takes the horse into consideration.

We do not train the rider to train the horse, we teach the rider to teach the horse. It is not a question of the rider making the horse perform, but the rider teaching the horse how to use his anatomy to answer our questions, or in other words the questions of equitation.

In traditional training of the rider, the rider is trained to train the body of the horse not the mind of the horse. The horse isn’t taught to think for himself. The rider is trained instead to train the horse to submit to an aiding pattern. This aiding pattern has to be constantly repeated throughout the ridden life of the horse. Since the horse is only responding to stimulus and not learning how to manage his body to perform the movements autonomously, the rider is condemning himself to having to constantly repeat the same aids all the time.

This in the human world would be like training a child to repeat four after prompting him with the “aid” of 2+2, yet never teaching him how to calculate the response for himself.

We’re putting anatomy at the heart of equitation

In traditional training the rider isn’t taught how the horse’s anatomy functions, especially not when the anatomy is in motion. Because the rules of traditional training are mostly counter indicative to the rules of anatomy, this leads to resistance, heaviness and stiffness, which in turn makes the rider have to work much harder to make his horse do what he wants. The rider is also physically at risk of injury, since manhandling several hundredkilos of equine muscle is destructive to the human body. This is why gadgets exist, to “aid” the rider with the manhandling of muscle mass.

So in a nut shell we teach horse and rider to work together each having their own responsibilities. We also ride by the rules of equitation (which ask the questions) but only once they have been expanded to include the biology of both horse and rider. So anatomy, physiology, intellect and emotions.

Equitation, science and horsemanship work together to produce healthy, strong, mentally and athletically stable horses that are safe and a pleasure to work and play with.

We, as in Faewood Equestrian together with AlignmentHorse, are the puzzle piece that makes the puzzle whole.
